Prefects Investiture Ceremony, 2026

The Investiture Ceremony of Welland Gouldsmith School, Patuli, was held on 10th July, celebrating the values of leadership, responsibility, and service.

The badges and sashes were presented by Dr. Ms. G. R. Hart, Provost and CEO of Welland Gouldsmith Schools, and Mr. J. C. Hart, President of Welland Gouldsmith Schools.
Priyanshu Maity (Class XII A) and Ananta Banerjee (Class XII B) were invested as the Head Boy and Head Girl, while Anshul Nair (Class XI B) and Subarna Patra (Class XI B) were appointed as the Assistant Head Boy and Assistant Head Girl. The ceremony marked the beginning of their leadership journey, inspiring them to serve the school community with dedication and integrity.

Rabindra Jayanti celebration, 2026

Rabindra Jayanti The school celebrated Rabindra Jayanti on 8th May 2026 to honour the birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. Students presented a cultural programme comprising songs, dances, and a skit highlighting Tagore’s life, works, and enduring legacy.

The celebration paid tribute to his remarkable contributions to literature, music, and education, while encouraging students to embrace his ideals of creativity and human values.

World Anglo Indian Day, 2026

Our school celebrated World Anglo-Indian Day on 4th August 2026. The occasion was a tribute to the rich heritage and invaluable contribution of the Anglo-Indian community to the nation. The program commenced with a prayer. Our Chief Guests for the day were Mr.and Mrs.(Dr.) Hartnett, Mr. Aniket Deb Roy, Principal of St. Thomas' Free School Street, Mrs. Jackson, former Headmistress of our school, and members of the Executive Committee. The teachers of the B.B. Ganguly Street branch and Patuli branch had put up separate programs, highlighting the Anglo-Indian community for the distinctive cuisine, unique language and expression, elegant style of dress, vibrant music and dances. The program left everyone inspired with a renewed sense of pride, gratitude towards the Anglo-Indian community, making the celebration a memorable one.

INTER HOUSE DEBATE COMPETITION, 2026

On 22nd July, 2026, Welland Gouldsmith School, Patuli witnessed an engaging and intellectually stimulating Inter House Debate Competition where students showcased their confidence, eloquence and power of reasoning.

The topic for the debate was *Academic Success Is More Important Than Extra-Curricular Activities*

The students presented their views with clarity making the competition engaging and thought-provoking.

Grieff House emerged as the winner with Aditya Dsagupta (12 A) and Arjun Bhowmik (11 A) receiving the awards as The First Runner Up and Best Speaker for their outstanding performance. Verghese House came second followed by Roberts House in the third place and Hart House in the fourth place.
The event provided students with a valuable platform to develop their communication, reasoning and public speaking skills.

INTER HOUSE JUNIOR SCHOOL QUIZ COMPETITION, 2026

The Inter House Junior School Quiz Competition 2026 was held on 6th July, 2026, where students enthusiastically showcased their knowledge and team work.

The event was both exciting and educational, prompting healthy competition and confidence among the participants.

Verghese House emerged as the Winners with an impressive performance.

TINY TRENDSETTERS, 2026

On 31st July, 2026, the students of Lower Nursery, Upper Nursery and Kindergarten participated in a vibrant and joyful Fashion Show. Dressed in colourful and creative costumes, the little ones walked the ramp with confidence, enthusiasm and bright smiles. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to showcase their confidence and creativity while enjoying a memorable experience.

The enthusiastic applause from the audience made the occasion even more special.

The Fashion Show was a delightful celebration of our young learners’ talent, confidence and joyful spirit.

INTER HOUSE SENIOR QUIZ COMPETITION, 2026

The Inter House Senior School Quiz Competition was held on 7th July, 2026 with the Principal Mr.C. Gaynor serving as the Quiz Master. The event was both challenging and engaging, as students demonstrated excellent knowledge, confidence and teamwork. Verghese House emerged as the winners, earning appreciation for their outstanding performance.

Past Events

Our school celebrated India’s 77th Independence Day on 14th August, 2024 with great enthusiasm and patriotic zeal. The program featured a heartfelt tribute to the freedom fighters, a captivating play about a young girl’s determination to join the army and a vibrant dance showcasing India’s cultural diversity. The event concluded with an inspiring address by Mr. F. Gomes, our Academic Consultant, leaving everyone motivated and filled with patriotic pride on the theme “Viksit Bharat”.

World Anglo-Indian Day was celebrated on 2nd August, 2024 in our school. The event began with a heartfelt prayer by our Vice Principal, Mrs. S. Ray, by setting a thoughtful tone. There was a captivating dance performance and melodious singing by the teachers. Mr. J. Hart, President of Welland Gouldsmith School, Educational and Charitable Society, delivered an insightful address on the community’s achievements, the contribution of the Anglo-Indian community towards education, literature, sports, by henceforth highlighting their inspiring admiration for their vibrant heritage. The program concluded on a patriotic note with the National Anthem.

This year the investiture ceremony was held on 6th May 2024 in the school auditorium and was presided over by our Provost and CEO,
Dr. Ms. G. R. Hart, our vice principal, Mrs. S. Ray and Mr. F. Gomes. The Head girl (Afreen Fatima), Assistant Head girl (Simran Puri), House Captains, Vice Captains, Games Captains and Assistant Games Captains took their pledge. The function concluded with the national anthem.

Twelve prefects from each house were presented with their badges by the House Mistresses on 15th May 2024.

The discipline squad comprising 16 children from classes 5 to 8 were also presented with their badges on the same day by the discipline coordinator – Ms. S. Malla.

Our school hosted the Frank Anthony Memorial Debate for Category II, on 10th July, the moderator for which was Mrs. S. Ray (Vice-Principal, WGS, BBG).

The eminent judges were Principals of renowned Kolkata schools, Mrs. Sanchita Biswas, Ms. M. King and Mr. A. Deb Roy.

9 schools participated with their views on the topic: ‘Facebook friends have become more real than real friends’.

St James’ School and Pratt Memorial School were chosen the Winning and the Runner up Teams respectively.

Held in the Gillian Hart Auditorium on 30th June. The participants from classes IX to XII used facts, humour, statistics and examples effectively to support their stance ‘for’ or ‘against’ the Motion : ‘Robots will take over human activity’. The judges were Mr. Francis Gomes and Mrs. Delores Ryle.

The Winners’ Cup was lifted by Verghese (Blue) House, with the first Runner up being Hart (Red) House. Anumegha Banerjee was declared the Best Speaker.

Held on the 28th June, Where the Discipline Squad from classes V to VIII and the Prefects of the four houses were presented with the badges.

On 3rd July the Captains, Vice-Captains, Games Captains, Assistant Head Girl (Afreen Fathima) and Head Girl (Harshita Chandak) were invested with their badges, after they took oath.

Welland Gouldsmith witnessed it’s Vernacular (Hindi) Elocution Contest on 26th June.

The Judges, Mr. Rakesh Kr. Dubey and Mrs. Neeta Sen, were highly impressed with the pieces rendered – motivational and amusing.

Verghese (Blue) House bagged the first position, followed by Verner Grief (Yellow) House.

Students of class 3 and 4 eloquently recited interesting and amusing poems for the Elocution contest. Then class 5 students took part in a story telling contest, introduced first time which enthralled the judges and the audience alike. Finally classes 6-8 had choral recitation which brought the stage alive with their energetic and enthusiastic rendition and beautiful and attractive props. Overall Blue house scored the maximum points followed closely by Yellow house.
